The Top 10 Digital Cameras Ripped Apart

The first thing anyone notices when they start looking for digital cameras, is the incredibly overwhelming number of cameras available.  As of this writing, Amazon lists around 2,500 cameras on their website.  Around 2,300 are point and shoot cameras, and the remaining 200 or so are digital SLR cameras.  That’s a truly staggering number of digital cameras to choose from.  Given that most consumers look for a point and shoot camera, eliminating the SLR’s from the list doesn’t really make things much easier.  Would you read an article with a headline that screamed “The Top 2300 Digital Cameras Of All Time!”?  Not likely.  Unless you’ve got way too much time on your hands.  If you do, you should quickly skim this article on only the top 10 digital cameras, and then scoot over to my house and cut the lawn.  It really needs it, and I hate doing it;)

My Six Word Memoir

Wow, I’ve been tagged. Nobody ever tagged me before. I’m pretty excited, and a little nervous. Nicol over at her Great Prices blog, tagged me with a game to come up with my own six word memoir. The rules of the game are:

My memoir is:

Life’s a Gamble, Persistence Is Omnipotent

My memoir is not totally original, but inspired by a quote I read a few years ago by Calvin Coolidge:

“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent. The slogan press on has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”

I’ve never been one to be satiated with the status quo. In my younger years, I ran the regular go to college, get a 9-5, get married and have a family script. But then after a few years I started taking some adventurous gambles with my career and personal life. Sometimes they worked out beautifully, and sometimes not so much. Like for example buying a 30 foot sailboat without ever taking a sailing lesson or having even been on one before. 6 years later, some of our best family memories have to do with the adventures that inevitably come from sailing the Great Lakes. Career wise, things have been a real roller coaster. The highs include taking a very lucrative consulting job with tons of travel and a young family, while the lows have included struggling to get a personal web based business off the ground. While there may be some things I would have done different, I wouldn’t ever change my decisions to “take the leap” for any of them. Read more

Really Good Reasons To Buy A Digital Camera Online

Ok, all you wafflers out there, this ones for you. In case you haven’t noticed, I run a little camera search tool on this site called the Personal Camera Finder. It’s goal is to help people find a camera that has all the features they want within their budget. One of the questions I ask my visitors is whether they would buy a camera online.

I know relatively few people in the real work that would order items online. So, I’ve always been of the notion, that people look for information on their future purchases online, but actually make the purchase in a bricks and mortar store at their local strip mall.

Now, assuming that people are telling the truth, I may have been somewhat misguided. I don’t have a large sample size at the moment, but the numbers go something like this. 44% say Yes . . . 34% say Not Sure . . . 14% say Maybe . . . 8% say No. Well, surprise surprise. It looks like like the majority of people say they will buy a digital camera online, a larger chunk 48% (Not Sure & Maybe) are conflicted, and only a small minority say no.

Interesting. Well in the spirit of saving the planet and promotion of a better way of life for all, I’m going to give you undecided masses some good reasons to buy a digital camera online. Read more

Digital Camera Megapixels - How Many Is Too Many?

Yea I know, there’s billions and billions of sites read to tell you what the best digital cameras are. But, they’ve always got so many damn choices, it makes my head pound.
